7.5 inch rear end

While it has a 7.5" diameter carrier and ring gear, it's referred to as a 10 bolt. Some people might not know what you're talking about when you say a 7.5" rear end.
A lot depends on how many miles it has, how it's been maintained, and what gears you have. A numerically higher gear ratio will allow it to handle slightly more power as there is less load on the drive train.
Brand new, these axles can handle around 400hp easily, and 500 (at the crank) if you take it easy on it. A high mileage axle with worn bearings and gears could self destruct under factory amounts of power.
Really, it's a guessing game. If you want to push any serious amounts power through that 10 bolt, you'll always have a voice in your head asking "is it going to break? Is that noise I hear? Something doesn't seem right..." Etc. Then eventually it WILL break. You might get many abusive years out of it, or you might get a couple hard launches out of it.

i have seen a third gen with a nitrous 383 and 4:11 gears in a stock 10 bolt and stock posi. he was just careful on the launch and ran small slicks so it would spin instead of breaking. however, i have a slightly modified 4.3 v6 in my 95 blazer, and it grenaded the rear when it spun a tire on a turn and slammed into second gear

The 10-bolt (7.5/7.625) rear axle assembly will be all right with moderate HP/TQ increases on a STREET CAR. The only problem I see with the 10-bolt, is the DUMB & DUMBER drivers who thinks they are in a race car. Those Boy Racer types will break anything.

I would not drive it like a hot rod i could not afford the gas for it.although everybody gets on it every once in a while.i would like to put 350 horses in it but getting a cheap manual trans to take it is the prob a 700r4 is cheaper when it comes to after market i am gonna make some calls tomorrow and see if i can get a t5 built but i doubt it
