Default 350 improvment ideas

so i have a 69 camaro with a 307 in it (ughhhh... i know) now i am purchasing a 350 crate that has been in a freinds corvette for the last 45k miles. the engine has no problems and is in great condition... but i mean come on, the engine only makes 275 horses. thats so not gonna work for me.

now i already have tuned 1 and 5/8 inch long tube headers for it, i also have 2.5 inch flowmaster exhaust, HEI ignition, nad a holley 650 CFM carburator for it.... I would like ideas as to the best way to beef up the egine while still keeping it streetable for under a grand as im in college and hella poor. also this will be my daily driver so nothin to crazy. but like i said im a kid, i crave power from my engine.... all ideas are apperciated, thanks

these are the parts that have given to me as an idea... i have been told that these parts on this engine should net me between 365 -375 streetable HP, can anyone give me an idea of how accurate that is as im i dont have a strong backround in engines yet.... thanks

Look into a carb with higher airflow too if you can. With all those mods you'll want a carb of about 750Cfm i'd say.

there is such a thing as too much carburator too. Exhaust will be fine with 2.5 muffler system.

I've read through one of those, and if he's all he's cracked up to be, he should author the Gearhead Bible. Or at least a Book of the Gearhead.

I think he is interesting although not perfect in some of his stuff, I see he is writting for hot rod every now and then I do like how he goes through his explainations, most of it even I can understand.

your combo looks very nice for the street without trying to go crazy. the 650 carb should be nice. you might be a little high in your HP expectations but it will still wake the engine up a lot. your heads will probably flow better with a slightly bit bigger cam. if you match your cam better to your intake then you will have some nice results. that combo with a final gear of around 3:55 will wake that car up

most kids your age always want a huge cam and carb and they don't match anything and then wonder why their car is a dog. keep on the path you are on and you won't be let down

When I mentioned the cam is to big for the heads on your parts list I should have said the cam lift exceeds the reccomended max lift of the head which could cause spring binding sorry I should have explained my point better.
