Default 350 Build

I just picked up a gen-1 010 350 block and an 8qt oil pan... as of now thats all I got. I want to get started on it, but I'm not really sure what would be the best way to spend my money. I dont want to buy everything seperate, so I've been looking at kits. I want everything forged, any ideas? For the top end I was looking at an Edelbrock kit... something like http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku. (EDL-20-98 on summit). Thanks in advance for any advice, im trying to do this on a budget, so any tips are greatly appreciated.

First off I think you will want to decide what you want ..... is it a street engine, drag race engine, horsepower what you want to spend do you want to run on 89, 93 or race gas or E85 before anyone can really help we will need to know what you are shooting for....

How much power are you looking for with out the blower? Is it a 4 bolt main block?

400 hp from a 350 is easily attainable when you know what you're doing. A cam kit would be a very smart investment. Trick flow is my personal favorite but comp cams will get the job done just as well. A cam kit comes with lifters, valve springs, retainers, timing chain, etc.A more radical cam would be a good idea, like something with a .525'/.525" lift. Another good investment would be in a dang good set of cylinder heads. AFR is sick nasty but a little bit on the expensive side. When it comes to the carburetor, most definently a speed demon 750. Intake would have to be a single plain air gap, they're just amazing! Go by these guidelines and you're looking at well over 400 hp.
