305 TBI difficulty with cold start

I've been having trouble with my 92 TBI starting cold. It will start with the familiar rev, but when it goes down, it shuts off. To re start, I have to hold down the peddle to the floor, then it will start as if it's a flooded carb. Runs rough blowing fuel out the back, then it clears up and runs fine. I was thinking it might have a bad coil, but not sure. No check engine light either. Any input would be appreciated.

Could be a bad coolant temperature sensor, not the one for the gauge. It's located near the thermostat housing, and if unplugging it makes the cold engine run better, replace it. This one won't necessarily throw an error code if it's bad. By the way, did you check for codes?

Hey 69, I think that did it. Funny thing is I just replaced the CTS mid spring, and put the old one back in the box. I didn't know if I needed it or not, but I was throwing parts at it. Ended up being the new sensor was bad, but the old one is still good. I've been having trouble with it running a little rough after warm up, when I let it sit for half hour to 45 minutes, then it clears up. I'm gonna test drive again in a half hour. Maybe the temp sensor was the culprit for that issue also. I owe ya one.

The starting issue is gone, it starts fine, and doesn't stall out. The other issue of sitting after warmed up, and running rough is still there. I'm gonna hijack my own thread and ask what could cause the second issue.

I had a slightly different problem: Car would crank for like 30 seconds before starting in cold weather. Started immediately in warm weather. Problem turned out to be a oil pressure sensor/switch (located on the drivers side firewall). I got the replacement from Hawks:

Check all of your vacuum lines. Even after having more than mechanic look at it, I still had idle/rough running during warm up. So I decided to visually inspect them myself. The first one I found was a long one that ran from the canister to underneath the distributor. The thing literally disintegrated in my hand.
