My freinds and i recently started a car crew, one has a 79 camaro with a 350, and another with 89 iroc z (i have a 98 mustang gt) and my freind with the 89 is wondering hows the best way to get some hp out of his car, for a realitily reasonable amount of money.

305 TBI or TPI
header & mandrel bent 3" catback system andhi-flow 3"in & out Cat (cto-9118) forstarters.
Also remenber that NOTHING is inexpensive on these cars when you are trying to increase Horsepower..

 

Switch out the heads on the 305 with a set of 350 heads. I may not be an expert with the TBI TPI engines but from my experience the 305 heads are good for weighing down boats.

 

There is no cheap way for HP with a 305. You can throw all the possible mods at it and struggle to make 220RWHP tuned.

If he is stuck with his 305, atleast upgrade the runners & see if he can locate some L98 heads.

 

Zs had the TPIs, the RS had the TBI 305s, good set of heads will work, with a cam, gears will deff help out alot, exhaust, headers, etc.

 

Get a 327 crank, of course you will have to drop the engine, thats always fun.
