Nope. Not the same block, though they can be thought of as such since they use a lot of interchangeable parts.

I think a 305 punches out to a 335 and can still be called streetable.

The crank, stroke, and camshaft locations are different.

You can stroke and bore the 305 to a 335 with a 30 overbore and a crank for a SB 400, anything higher would be pushing beyond the limits of that block.

You can bore it out to 350 ci and have no wall thickness between the bores and other passages. You will have a piece of scap iron.

The 305 uses the same crank and connecting rods as a 350. The 350 block has a larger bore and larger diameter pistons. The cam and crankshaft locations are the same. I don't know where shnormo is getting his information.

I wonder if there would be anything to gain by doing this other than it would be neat to do. What would it take... boring 30 over with a 4 inch stroke. The clearencing would be a job. You would still be limited for valve size unless you used a different head. I dont see an advantage over just using a 350. Also the stock cranks are the same throw but they are different in balance I recently asked my machine shop about using my 305 crank in a 350 and they said it would be cheaper and better to just find a 350 crank because they would most likely need to add mallery to balance it.
