Default 305 to 350

Is there any way to turn a small block V8 305 into a 350??

The least you can do is to change the block and pistons. The heads will work and give you higher comprssion and the crank will work but is balanced for the lighter 305 pistons

If its a chevy small block its the same ish... Just different crankshafts and bores, the 305 has the same crank as the 350 but the 350 obviously has a bigger bore.

No...you cannot boreout a 305 ci block to 350ci. Reason: not enough wall thickness between the bores. 305/350 casting are very different internally.

So.. then what is the best way to max out the power on a 305? I've already upgraded the carb, intake manifold, distributor, and doing the headers today. Then we're doing straight duals after that. Would upgrading the cam and crank be worth it?

Is it worth it??? Only you can answer that question, and you may have already have overspent on the 305.

Camshaft is about it for ya man, ive been there done all that in like 2 weeks, my car didnt handle the cam that well though because of the fact that the car had so many miles the lifters were mushroomed out on the bottom and i couldnt replace em.

The good thing is though atleast if you just get a 350 block you can put all your 305 components on it, except for the pistons.

I hate to say it (since I have a 305, too), but if you are looking for a serious engine build-up, you would be ahead of the game to just bite the bullet and step up to a 350; way more potential and aftermarket support.

Not to say that you can't make a 305 run . . . Camaro Performers magazine just did an article last month about how to make a mid-Eighties 305 put out 372hp/350tq at the flywheel. Bolt-on parts brought them 150 horses at the flywheel. Not too shabby. So, it can be done, but the same level of mods and work done to a 350 might net you 400hp or more.
