just wanted to see if anybody can help with my project car. my son bought it for 800 and wants to restore it. i did a comp check and 3 of eight were at 90. the rest were good. the engine runs very poorly. i still need to check them with oil in the cylinders to see if it is rings or valves. any input will be a blessing so hope to hear from you all. this is going to be an on going project and hopr nobody gets tired of seeing me with my problems. i do have some mech experience but a little knowlage is dangerius so be gentle with me.

Hey man how's it going. Mind posting a little bit more info on the car? I have a 91 the a 305 tpi and three rocker arm studs pulled out of each head so far, so I would recommend checking your valves to begin with. try readjusting each cylinder that isn't up the 115 and go from there. I have 2 cylinders on mine that only get up to around 90. I have narrowed it down to either the molly rings I put in never set or when those studs pulled out I bent one of the valves :/ either way i'm just going to throw in a 350

 

im still working on a 300zx at this point but will be starting on tues eve. thats good input and my son would agree with you on the 350. i do want to see if i can fix the 305 before i change out motors. thanks to everyone for welcomeing me and i do need input
