I was informed that the engine is actually a Corvette...Small block 350 but the wiring is different from an "IROC". HUH???
I thought a 350 was a 350 but apparently not. I need to replace the oil pressure sensor but I don't know what wiring I need now.
People love to say this or that is a corvette motor. I have heard it so many times even in new cars. (First Lt1 Camaro in 93, that' a corvette motor, First LS1 Motor in 1998 and so on)
GM called the TPI 350 the L98 and in 87 both the camaro and and the vet had them although it was an option for the camaro. The Vet was rated at 235 HP and Camaro was rated 225. It is very common to use these slight variation for marketing. 10 HP. That is a 3% change in HP. Assuming it is true that is a It is most likely just a little better exhaust or Cold air intake. GM has lied about HP so many times I pretty much ignore what that say. Iroc also had a TPI 305 which was much more common and look just like the L98.
I was a GM tech back when these cars where new. All I can remember that was different was the 1-2 sift accumulator in the trans. I think the fuel injectors may have been different but they matched the Iroc LE1 (if your Iroc was an LE1 you would know). In 88 I believe the computers changed in the Vets. I think I remember there is 2 oil sensor one for the fuel pump and one for the gage.
The only other difference in the wiring harness is is just due to how things where routed in the engine bay. You can look up the part numbers for both on Rock Auto. If there is a difference it because the there is a clearance issue like a AC line in the way. I would bet most of the 1987 Oil pressure sensors are the same part number but I do not remember for sure. It really was a long time ago.

I think some of that is because the Vette got the new motor a year ahead of the Camaro in both the LT1 Vette 1992 Camaro 1993 and LS1 Vette 1997 Camaro 1998.
Don't recall on the tuned port 350,I had an '84 Vette that had it,not sure on the Camaro.
