1986 Camaro knocking from bottom of engine
Lol the valves are already done. I pulled the heads to do the seals and clean out all the sludge that was plugged the oil galleries. I have a bunch of pics of the mess that was in there. Anyway, i did the seals and the valves. All that's left is the bottom end. It was all ready for the road until the bearing went. Wasn't smoking out the tail pipe at all.
Hmmmmmmm....the plot thickens! How did you "clean out all the sludge"? Perhaps your clean out caused some crud to form a blockage in the bearing oiling hole, resulting in the spin.
If you've already described what you did in another thread, I didn't see it but I have a few questions.
1. When you removed the heads, did you completely tear them down before cleaning?
2. Did you use new head gaskets, intake gaskets, new head bolts?
3. Do you think you could have knocked off some carbon desposits into the bore?
I only ask because I have seen more than once a good idea (cleaning up the heads) turn into a bad decision if just a little of that rock hard carbon gets into the bottom end. It tears up lead bearings in just a few moments. I have found that I am unable to clean heads without some type of media blasting. Even on my race bikes, I never cleaned a head unless it was completely disassembled, even then I had more than one issue (with 4 strokes, never a 2 stroke)

The fact the engine now needs repair is probably just as well I guess.
The above pictures can be described by one word....well two; "yuck" is the obvious one, but "abuse" is what put those crunchies there.
