Default I have a Fan problem

Ok I have a V6 2.8 new engine, with new wiring, but I had to put a toggle on the stupid fan... I was driving, doing about 25 mph no problem with temperature.... Got stopped in traffic went from nice and cool to about 220 degrees in about 2 mins... drove it to a gas station waited for it to cool down, drove it home, let it idle then I noticed that the Fan never came on... What do you guys think? Should I just get a new fan?(The fan works with a toggle but it is annoying to have to flick it on every time I stop a long red light) Thoughts please ( I do not have alot of internet time so I'll try to be on tomarrow)

You said "the fan never came on", then said "the fan works with a toggle."
So which is it? Or, did you forget to turn the fan on before it got to 220?

flip the toggle on and play with the wire there could be a short in your toggle wire
i find that if theres a toggle and a wire and they arent working...
play with the wire!
it could be possible it got crimped somewhere by something which would make for a pain

sounds to me like the heat sensor for the fan i'd try that, it might not even be pluged in, i had gm put a motor in one of my past cars a while ago and they forgot to plug in my water temp sensor! so i'd try the obvious, your fan sounds ok, good luck!!!
