Default HELP!!! VACUUM LEAK?

Hey, I have a 3.1L V6 1990 Camaro.. Here is the deal.. I just picked it up and was driving it home and it died out of nowhere... I thought ok? so it started right back up and it ran fine again....right before I got home it died again, this time I was confused, and its not over heating.. I had noticed that the heater was on, so then I turned it off and it started right back up again... It hasn't been driven in a long time(8mo?).. so that probably doesn't help it.

My brother took it for a drive later that day with me and we noticed that when we sit at a light or stop it starts to idle on and off and wants to die, but then you turn on the heater and then idles fine and doesnt want todie.. We're assuming it has a vacuum leak? any other ideas what it may be? anybody have this problem before?

Try testing the vacuum heater valve. Its located on the passenger side the smog pump. You cant miss it, just follow the heater core hoses and it runs right to the valve, the other hose goes to the intake manifold. If that dont work then check the other vac hoses. I just got done replacing all my vac hoses and wow what a differece. Good Luck.

Since it was sitting for so long you can also give it a few drive cycles so the computer gets a chance to relearn

if you suspect a vacum leak the best way to rule it out is a smoke test usinga smoke machine unplug the vacum hose that goes to your break booster and fill it through there with the smoke it will make its way through any faulty or broken plastic connectors or vacum hoses indicating where the leak would be

I think I may have had my Camaro out (east-bound) that same day.
It must have been that "Californi Smog" in your eyes!!!
Is it backing up against the mountain tops again?[8D]

Yeah I seem to recall smoke in my lungs that day and that was before all the California wild fires so it must have been you. [:'(]

I think you missed the point. Chunk (the one-post wonder and originator of this post) joined and put this post here shortly after, which was over 4 months ago. He hasn't been back since, so answering to it is a waste of time. Had nothing to do with how much typing you're doing here.
