Default 98 Camaro v6 3.8

Hi all. It's been awhile. I need some help again. When I bought my 98 Camaro v6 3.8, this past march, it did not pass inspection. The engine light came on the day of the inspection. But, I did however get a waiver, for it. I had some needed work done on the car. The car runs fine. I have had the computer reset twice. The engine light comes back on within a couple of months. It seems to be the PO420 fault code. I had a transmission kit done on the car. I had a transmission man drive the car. He does not seem to think there is anything wrong. Why does the light keep coming back on? Someone please help me. Thank you. Ana A.

P0420 means the cat is not functioning properly or the downstream O2 sensor went bad. The transmission has nothing to do with this code.

Thanks so much. I certainly appreciate your help. I will pass this on to my son, and to the man that usually works on my Camaro. Ana A.
