All you need is a case of oil an oil filter and a pair of valve cover gaskets.

The fix is pretty simple. You will need to pull the valve covers and scrap the goop from around the valve. Then you find the oil return holes. Use some wire or a crankshaft brush to clear out the passages that lead back to the oil pan. Reseal the covers

Before you start the motor change the oil (not the filter) Run it for about 20 minutes. Do not rev it. Shut it down now do the real oil change with filter. If you want you can add seafoam or some other cleaning additive to the first oil its no problem since it is only going to be in the car for 20 minutes. I am not a big fan of driving cars with the cleaners in there.

Don't mess with you 2.8 86 saw some nice upgrades but that motor is well known for a weak bottom end. If you need to rely on that car the last thing you need is to increase the power. Many of those motors did not make it out of warranty bone stock. I don't thing its age has made it stronger.

If you really want to play with getting some power and not have the hassel of a convertion think about a 3.4 bottom end upgrade. That is when you take the base block out of a 93-95 camaro and replace your 2.8 block.

The oil returns are passages in the heads under the valve covers. Oil gets pumped to the top of the engine, lubricating the valve train, then flows back down into the returns, through the engine block, and into the oil pan. Your mechanic is saying that your heads are gunked up with oil sludge under the valve covers, which is restricting the oil flow back into the returns. You'll need to remove the valve covers to scrape out all the sludge and get the head surfaces and oil passsages as clean as possible. Then following up with an oil flushing solvent wouldn't be a bad idea either. Then drain the oil, leave the plug out of the oil pan, and pour a quart of new oil down each head to flush the rest of the crud/solvent out of the pan.
A lot of short distance driving is one contributor to sludge buildup. You need to take the thing out on the highway and let her stretch her legs once in a while. Or maybe that wasn't your driving habit, but was from the previous owner.

I thought thats all you have to do just double checking.i know thats the prob you can look in the oil cap on the value covers and its nast. i have been told them motors are junk i had one in a old s 10 and it started knocking.this one seems alright ima probably just put a 305 in it eventually just cant where i live i live in apartments.
