2.8 eculess carb conversion help.

Default 2.8 eculess carb conversion help.

i want to remove the rochester 2barrel that came on the 2.8's what do i have to change to make my car run without an ecu and a holley 4 barrel? also will a 700r4 tranny bolt up to the 2.8?

You will need to do a few things...first your manifold is a 2bbl manifold, so you'll need a 4bbl one.....for the v6. Good luck, I'm not sure whats out there on that front. Also, if you want no more CPU, then you'll need stand alone timing. Your CPU is in charge of timing, and A/F ratio even though its carb'd. Also, you need a V6 700R4 to mate. You didn't say what year you have, but chances are you might already have one.

For the intake manifold, you need to get both the base and the top: http://www.summitracing.com/search/D...Size/2-8L-173/
Then the carb (don't go bigger than a 390 cfm). And the aftermarket distributor. Those alone will set you back right around $1,000, unless you're lucky enough to find some used components.
What's your budget, and what are you hoping to gain?

ill prob just stick with my 2bbl manifold then n just save the holly for my 307..and i have a 84. n i have no realy budget just lookin more to get a lil extra power out to play with till my 307 is finished next spring

n so so what about the fuel pump or tranny? will i have to rewire thoes or are they already good to go?

Well, your mechanical pump will be just fine. There is a slim chance you may need to regulate pressure, but maybe not. A v8 trans will not mate to your v6. If you are building a v8 I would do nothing to your current setup as its just less time and money available for your project. A side note. When you get your 700r4. You'll want want one with a cable speedo, not vss which is CPU controlled.
