T56 swap in progress
T56 swap into a 3rd gen, clutch options?
I'm in the middle of doing the T56 swap into my 3rd gen, trashed the race prepped 700r4, and after doing searches on all the different forums, 3 different clutches are mentioned with pro's and cons of each.. I cant afford the Mcleod street twin. $$$$
My motor is a pre '86 383 stroker putting out close to 500fwhp and 470fwtrq, I just scored a new centerforce conversion flywheel (700107) off ebay for $300, now I'm looking for a clutch kit, options are centerforce dual friction, Spec stage 3+, or a ram powergrip, what are your thoughts on these. The car is a weekend cruiser and bruiser, not a true DD, my wifes 94 v6 camaro is our DD.
The car/motor has pulled a 1.80 60ft on nitto DRs with a tight trq convrtr (2200stall) and ran a 8.20 in the 1/8th ((old 700r4 numbers- 350rwhp/370rwtrq))
The t56 came with a so-called zoom kevlar clutch, but research has shown that zoom PP's are purple, and this one is a stock looking black coated PP, still has the machine grooves in it, but it also has heat discoloration, clutch disk looks ok, but I dont want to take a chance on it.
