Default 3rd Gen V8 5 Speed?

So recently I've been on an intense hunt for a Camaro. I have my heart set on a 3rd gen and my price range is hair under $2000. I also wanted a v8 with a 5 speed, but I had no idea it would be that hard to locate one. I have found literally hundreds of cars in my price range, all either a 5 speed v6 or an auto v8. The manual v8's I have found were completely redone and the owners are asking 5k plus.

Why is this car so rare? Should I consider buying an auto v8 and converting it?

I wouldnt call it rare per say, just more desirable so the price is obviously higher. your price range of 2k is a little low as the third gen cars are moving up in price, especially the IROCZ cars and the V8/5speed cars. what i would do is get the v6 manual and swap the whole thing over with a 350 and world class t5. it would be less modifications and parts to hunt down as the pedals and such are already there

Guess I'm lucky, I picked up a 92 z28 5 speed for 1200
