Default Anyone know where I can get a 4banger camaro

The reason I'm looking for a four banger is a guy I work with is obsessed with mustangs. He does nothing but make fun of camaros. He had a 95 gt and that was wreaked he now bought a four cylinder. I currenly own a 98 3.8L camaro and that would easily destroy his car. I would like to get an iron duke and beat him with that just to prove to him which is the better car.

Start lookin' but I doubt you'll have much luck. They weren't exactly popular when they were new, and I doubt many people will have wanted to hang onto one. Try eBay, craigslist, kijiji... you know, the usual places to look.

The 2.5L engine only makes 90 hp, by the way. In a car that weighs 3000 lbs, you'll be lucky to beat a school bus.

The bigger question is Why?
-
The I4 Camaros were dirt slow. the V6s were dirt slow until late 4th gen. Only ones worth while is the 305tpi and 350tpi

his point isnt to go fast, just show his buddy that the I4 camaro will beat the 4 banger mustang, the only factor that will come into play really is weight

also on the off topic subject of desirability, the TBI cars can be built just as well as the TPI cars, they even made Iroc's with the 305 TBI in them, sure you will never be on the same level as a 350 with the same mods, but the L03 has hit low 13's in the 1/4 if not faster which is remarkable for a Thirdgen 305

each one serves a purpose

the 305tbi was only offered for 1988 and 1989 as an iroc motor. otherwise it was just an RS feature
.
And no, not ever did the 305TBI ever run in the 13s, man ur dreaming lol.Not even the 350TPI hit 13s it was a mid to high 14sec, and the 305TPI was in the low 15s. the 305TBI is looking at 16seconds

And 85-87 it was the LG4 as a base iroc motor

I said built, not stock, if you read my resto thread you would see I'm fully aware the TBI cars are 16 second stockers

The 85-87 Motor LG4 was just a plain jane 4bbl not a TBI.

The TBI was used from 1982-1985 on the Sports Coupe's LQ9 4 cylinder, then it did not return til 1988 on the L03 305s. In 1988 The L03 was offered on the Sports Coupe Model and IrocZ model. In 1989 It was offered on RS and IrocZ model. Then from 90-92 it was strictly just an RS model option.

when did i say the LG4 was TBI?

im not trying to see who can sling more knowledge on 3rdgens.

my point in saying what i was saying is even the All mighty Iroc-z's were offered with a base line V8 in them

and this thread still isnt about v8's its about him beating a 4cyl mustang with a 4cyl camaro
