Default Rollcage Issues

Hey all, I'm new here and I love the forums so far. I have a 1991Z28 with a 450hp 383. 3:73 rear end gears, Race built 700R4, custom exhaust, Spohn Torque arm, UMI Performance relocated lower control arms, UMI panhard bar, Spohn Subframe connectors, etc. I was wanting to stiffen up the car some more because I'm planning a 406ci build that will be about 500-550hp. I welded in a rollcage and it looks great. This is a street/strip car by the way. My problem is with the armrests. The crossbar that goes from the start of the arch in the hoop behind the front seats to the firewall hits the armrest when I try to shut the door. I need something there so I can pull the door shut from the inside. The bar hits the armrest right in the middle of it too. I thought maybe I could cut it in half and get it recovered but I don't know if that would work. I'm planning on showing and racing this car so I need it to look slick like it was supposed to be there. Any ideas? Thanks!
