My son has a 90 RS and he has a switch of some kind missing to the left of steering wheel near headlight switch. Also on some he's seen a switch above the rear defrost switch. Any info on these? I'll try to get a pic of his dash this evening.

 

Pretty sure the one by the headlight switch was for fog lights.

 

Picture left side 1987 IROC-Z, the switch locations did not change over the model years.

 

It probably was fogs. His car doesn't have fogs but someone probably removed them. Would the right side be cig lighter?

 

Do these cars have dimmers for the instrument cluster? He was driving at night lastnight for the first time coming home from school and he said the glow is way too light and he can't see the speedometer.

Yes,they do have a dimmer for the dash lights. It is the headlight pull out which you adjust by turning right/left.

 

Lighter on top with rocker switch for the rear window defog below.
