Lightbulb ZZ4 Engine Swap

I managed to get my hands on a new 350 ZZ4 relatively cheap and jumped on the opportunity.

What kind of computer & ignition issues am I looking at with this swap?

Would eliminating the computer altogether and installing an MSD ignition system and mechanical gauges be the best bet?

This is going to be my first major engine swap (besides stock for stock).

Current Setup:
1992 Camaro RS factory with 305ci TBI with 700R4 Trans

This is the EXACT engine I have sitting, waiting to be installed.

A 350 Z24? Well whatever you're smoking, you need to share it with us!

You need to learn more about V8's buddy. As for you Hydra Shock, I know GM used to sell a ZZ4 conversion kit for TPI Camaros. The kit made the ZZ4 smog legal in all 50 states, but I don't think GM sells the kit anymore.

I've always known Z24 as being a cavalier 4 cylinder.

Haha we are talking about GM's 350ci 355hp/405tq ZZ4 crate engine.

evidently.
as for the swap, going to carb and swapping guages is going to be as expensive and time consuming as swapping to tpi, short ram (lt1 style efi), or upgrading the tbi. there is a larger tbi unit available for trucks through summit that flows 670 cfm, but its still tbi. going with that would allow you to keep everything already in the car, and just change the chip for the most power

easy swap
i had a ZZ3 (first gen ZZ4) in my 82 Z28. they use to sell a complete smog legal kit from GM part part No. 10185072 i did a google search here is a link to the parts list.
http://www.camarotech.com/engine-ZZ3.html

its an easy swap. computer wise you jut need a reprogramed prom.
i swaped out the aluminum heads that came with it and ran AFR heads.
and ran SLP headers.
my car ran great. way faster than anything from the factory at the time.

any questions ask away
