You have any tricks for mounting the torque arm to the tranny when I put it back in? I was just thinking maybe when I put the motor in let the tranny sag down and slide it in and then position the motor. I might just scrap this whole car and put my tranny in this.. http://york.craigslist.org/cto/991792851.html How do you seperate the motor and tranny in the car? Is it even possible?

when i took out my motor. all you do is disconnect the bellhousing bolts and then jack up the tranny a bit and pull the motor out. i have a 5 speed, but if you leave all the tranny bolts connected except the bellhousing bolts, it should pull right out. as for that i roc. that is a sweet ride and perfect for your build. i would buy that in a heartbeat. 900 for a body in that shape is a steal. i say do it before someone else does.

Im looking at it Friday afternoon. How did you get your bellhousing bolts out? I couldn't get mine out in the car at all. Did you come from the top of the engine bay?

To remove the top bellhousing bolts, begin by disconnecting all of your wiring, remove your radiator and fan, then jack up the transmission slightly and remove torque arm and cross member, cooler lines, speedo cable (or plug), driveshaft, and lock up switch plug. Then lower the transmission until you have access to the top bolts. Use a universal joint and an extra long extension and they come out easy as pie. Dont worry about tweaking anything, as long as the transmission tail housing isnt touching the ground, you shouldnt hurt anything.

IMHO, it is easier to remove them both in one shot. Get yourself an engine leveler like this one: http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...70_19979_19979

And another person to run the hoist while you tilt and guide the engine. Makes pulling and dropping engines and transmissions in one shot 10x's easier, beleive me i've been there before...
