maybe the choke is messin up and the light is showing for it? what kind of carb is it? might be something with the carb and thats why it failed and is causing problems and the computer is reading it as running too rich. could be flooded and thats why it wont start

It very well could be (vapor lock) especially after it gets hot! then wont start, if the fuel lines are run on top or close to the intake manifold? or headers if you have them? quite possible there,s too much heat in the engine bay.

I don't think there is a code for vapor lock, but it will probably show up as something else. Apparently he never bothered to pull the code, or if he did he won't tell. LOL

Sorry boys (and girls) been busy as hell with work and i'm 3,000 miles from the car right now. i'll be looking at taking it to a shop this weekend, i'll update then. Apparently the engine is from a 68 corvette (350cid) but i don't believe a word he says so i'll be checking the engine, tranny, and rear end when i take it in. Reason i don't believe him is that he said it was an Lt-1 engine which i believe only came into the vettes in 1970.

Here's the update:

The guy who did the swap didn't put the AIR pump or any of the piping, it's missing the O2 sensor, and the passenger exhaust manifold is loose. So now I have to try to find the AIR pump and bracket, all the piping/hoses, and the valves and try to make it work. Anyone know how hard it is to hook all that stuff up? i looked it up in the haynes manual but it was apretty useless description. The guy at the shop said it would cost over 1,000 in labour alone (which i think is BS).

Do you need the air pump where you live for smog? Hooking it up is easy. You will need the exhaust manifolds that have the pipes in them and one coming off the cat. Do you have a cat? Do you have serpintine belt? The valve for the A.I.R. is different than the earlier stuff.

I'm not sure I need it, but i did fail the idle HC miserably. The guy who worked on it got it down from 640+ ppm to about 300 (limit being 346) so i'm gonna try and pass it without the pump. I will be looking at fixing the o2 sensor however. The exhaust manifold i believe are made to have the pipe(s)(i remember the passenger side hassomething allows for something to be hooked up). It's gonna sound stupid but i THINK there's a cat i haven't even thought to check though. I actually thought cats came intoeffect in the late 80's.

Oh ya, i forgot to mension the guy gimmie rigged the fan to be always on. I think there's no thermostat on it so i'll probably have to fix that too.
