I got an 82 for $250. It had a perfect body, but needed paint. The people said it would run but wouldnt idle and missed pretty bad. I was buying it to put a 350 in. Well, I had it towed home and sure enough it would start but not idle and missed. I figured I would put some 93 gas in it because it had sat for 2 years. When I took the gas cap of it made that hissing sound (vapor lock). Thats why it wouldnt idle. Put plugs gas cap and sold it for $1000 in 3 days. I probably would give $1200 at the most for the one your looking at. If yours has a 350 and I needed an engine I would probably give $400. That car was hit pretty good. Like y2k said, if yours has good motor and tranny. Find a good body car for cheap and make you a nice car.

Here in NYC the price on them is a bit more inflated.
It's impossible to find a decent 3rd gen not torn apart in a half project fashion by some idiot trying to make it a track car and not realizing he needs to do a lot more than put a 350 in or put racing seats in whilst tearing everything else out.
My mostly mint condition 89 iroc ran me 4k, and my 85 z28 ran me 3k. Prices vary tremendously, but most of the time the ones for 2k or 2500 around here have either been smashed, or are projects half finished.
That said I sold my 85 z28 recently for 2200, complete with rust tearing it to shreds in the rear. (Chunk of rust even fell off while the guy was examining it.) Motor ran strong though.
It's sad, in a year and a half's time, one NYC winter DESTROYED my z28. Definitely garaging the iroc this winter.

Holy crap, prices vary by market. I bought my 82 from a junkyard. The engine was a whooped 305. The tranny had a massive leak and the engine had 3 giant puddles below it. Rims were junk aftermarket, the windows didnt work and she was totally missing the pass door lock (had been ripped out)
HOWEVER.........I live in upstate NY. Up here, rust will destroy a car in 7-10 years. Ive seen cars with 75K on them, engines still running but all body, frame, suspension parts were rusted solid. Once a car gets THAT bad, there is no saving it. They go to junk yards, the turn signals, seats and a few internal parts are scavenged and they are scrapped. I paid 1300 bucks for my hooptie and I had to go over and replace every mechanical part on the car. There are no 3rd gens in the boneyards up here so it was a painstaking process. Up here, if its more than 20 years old and still has a solid frame, solid gas and brake lines and it runs, its worth at least 1500.

Cars rust up here in the Pacific NW rust from our extremely wet climate but not as bad as over there in the salt zone,still a lot of people will go to CA,NV or AZ to find a rust free classic and bring it back up here.
i would offer him no more than a grand for it. i paid $1200 for my camaro, and it had a brand new trans with under 10k miles on it, and the entire car had only 26k on it. i needed to replace all the calipers and rubber componants, but i paid the right price for it. my nose also sags like that one does, just not as much. its common i suppose
