wondering how much a 6 speed goes for?
just wonderin how much a decent 6 speed could go for im looking to buy one not sure when but my 5 speed wont put up with the engine im putting in my camaro for long
If you buy a trans on Ebay you're taking a rather large risk, though. There's no garaunty that it will even work when you put it in the car, and by that time, you MAY be able to settle the issue with the seller, but you'll have to drop the tranny, ship it back, get another one, put that in, hope it works. And that's best case scenario if something goes wrong. If you buy new, you can ussualy get an entire conversion kit for about $2500 or $3000, everything is designed to fit, is brand new, and probably comes with a waranty and tech support if you choose your supplier well. Sometimes it helps to take shortcuts, and you may get lucky, but it's your choice as to wether it's worth the risk. Choose wisely.
i wasent saying i was going to buy one from ebay i just said thats what i saw it go for on there and im 17 i dont have 3 grand to drop on a trans i just put $2500 into the engine and 900 on the car so idk bout u but i dont have 3000 for a new trans lol thats why i was looking at used and i know people that can rebuild it anyway
I certainly understand that. I'm 21, in college, married, and keep having **** luck with keeping jobs. I don't even have $100 to fix the blown head gasket in my daily driver right now, so don't feel bad. If you know someone who'll rebuild the trans, by all means, buy one used. A transmission shop mechanic is one of the best friends to have in this hobby, especially if you don't know how to do it yourself.
that sucks you can get a whole gaskit kit from summit for like 25 bucks idk if there good but should fix the problem for a while thats what i got everyone says it will be fine i know i should of gotten felpro or whatever it is but whatever. im lucky i have a great job doing construction making money working 40 hrs a week and school but i still have no money its all into this car doesent help that my parents owe me 700 either
Not for a 95 Cavalier 2.2L It's like $50, and then another $40 or 50 for the bolts, which have to be replaced, since they're the ones that're designed to stretch and work well the first time they're installed and then never be good again.
that sucks my bro picked up one of those cars for i thini 250 had an electrical problem were it wouldent shift brought it to the trany shop to be fixed they had it for 4 months and did nothing about it so he just went and bought a mustang lol how did u blow a head gasket on the car?
It's a pretty common problem for those engines, actually. It's not completly blown yet. So far it only leaks out, so it's not doing any internal damage yet, and as soon as it does (if I haven't fixed it by then) I'll be replacing it wether I can afford to or not. I think it's pretty likely that the head is warped, since it had an overheat problem before I got it off of my sister, and the leak started shortly after we took care of that. Can't expect much, as I only paid $50 for the car, and it was an in-family gift, so it wasn't safety inspected or taxed. It's lasted about 2.5 months so far, so I've already gotten my moneys worth out of it.
