wiring rear hatch!?!?!?!?

RE: wiring rear hatch!?!?!?!?
My buddy and I did this on his 90....we gutted the whole car and made our own complete wiring harness from scratch. It was a long time ago, but there are a group of wires that should run along the drivers side rocker panel. A small group will branch off about in the middle of the rocker panel and go towards the center console. There are relays there for the trunk pop. In the back, there should be wires that go to the motor, the light, and a ground. We basically just tested each wire with a battery and a ground. Just follow the wires to the motor and the lock actuator. I think there is a white wire, purple wire, yellow wire, and black wire. The white wire basically went to the light and the trunk lock. Think simple...when you pop the trunk, the light comes on via the ground relay at the switch. Again, I'm trying to explain from memory years ago, and I know this probably isn't too helpful, but we just tested wires and it's a lot easier with two people. If you know someonewith the setup that works, take a look at it and it would help too.

RE: wiring rear hatch!?!?!?!?
i had to do this with my car, its a common problem with these cars, its actually kind of cool when it does work lol. anyway, i ordered a rebuilding kit with all reinforced parts and it came with detailed instructions on how to do it. And i did it myself and it works great now. i dont know how mechanically inclined you are, if you think you'll have diffucult doing this you could probably order a rebuild of this and just install it into the car which would be a heck of a lot easier but more expensive. Anyway, whichever you choose good luck, these are great cars
