Default What's the Best Aftermarket Air Intake system?

The car is a 1986 305 TPI Camaro Z-28. I'm just looking for an air intake system to give a little performance boost.
Thanks Guys

I did some research, Is it even possible to get aftermarket air intake for a Third Gen. Camaro?

Cold air induction systems are available or were. I looked at them many years ago when I had my 305 TPI and did not see that much of advantage. Plus, in most case you have to relocate the battery for room for the filter. Better ways to spend the $300+ dollars. My opinion.

Ive never run any kind of 'cold air' system, but what are the real possible gains?? If I remember correctly (and Im sure someone will find this equation) but they say that for every 5 degree drop in ambient intake temperature there is a 1 horespower gain. (and at what point does this power curve even out, IE you stop getting HP gains??) Seeing how you really cant even feel less than a 10 hp change, you would have to drop the intake temp by almost 50 degrees feel anything. I think 'cold air' systems are a great way to optimize performance but you arent going to notice a 'seat of the pants' change.

Thanks you all, but if its true I won't feel a difference then I find it hard to spend the money on it. Is there a better performance upgrade for around $300?

For $300, not much that you would feel it. Just start saving up for normal replacement parts. Examples: Steering parts, struts, shocks, end link & etc...Remember these parts are 24 yrs old.

for 300 bucks you could MAYBE scrounge up a set of rear end gears and find a shop to install them. but its gonna come real close to going over that 300 dollar mark. I PROMISE you it will be the BEST money you spend on the car performance wise.

whats wrong with the factory cold air? whats colder than the air that is being forced up from the grille? i know air that has to travel behind the radiator isnt cold. you can modify the factory setup. underneth the air filters are some curved baffles and plastic. i removed these curved peices and cut out the plastic. i didnt feel any gains, but im sure it had helped to some extent
