Default What spring compressor to use on front coils

I've recently did some suspension work on my 88 camaro. I needed to remove the coil spring so I could remove the lower control arms. Removing the springs were no problem but putting them back in was quite a challenge for me. In the past I just simply would allow the control arm to fall all the way down and the front coil would just fall out, but this one still had a good inch and a half on tension to fight with before it would fall into the lower seat!

I'm wondering what type of spring compressor do you use when installing factory front coil springs. I'm thinking an inside compressor but could not find one at the time. I did notice that the factory has like a T bolt slot just under the upper spring mount. I went to a couple of my local auto suppliers but none knew of such a spring compressor. Any input from experienced people is greatly appreciated.

I have just used a pry bar and a jack....And took care of the jewels
Other than that you go through the hole, where a shock would bolt, in the control arm with a spring compressor.

do what mike said use a jack to lower the spring. But there is a tool such a spring compresser, please keep in mind that when people are hired at auto part store they know nothing about cars or tools. That should be a test on the application how knowledge do u have about cars and tools. But u can use any type of compresser as long as u secure it on the spring properly.

Thanks for bringing it up Matt. I did not have the heart to say anything about the "parts pro's". Many of them cant find the simplest part if they dont type every bit of info in the computer. I could tell ya some stories.
