Default What is this part called????

I have a 1989 Camaro RS 2.8 V6 ( real Hog ) There is a long bracket that connects to the tailhousing of my trans (5 speed) and goes back to connect to the rear end. What is this called.....pan hard bar, traction bar, etc. I heard a noise when I back up and I got up under the car and where it connects to the back of the trans it has a rubber mount and it is bad and letting the bracket swing up and hit the metal making a loud popping noise. I want to replace it but don't know what to ask for. Any help would great. Thanks, Paul

Thats the torque arm mount. Your trans mount might be broke also causing the thump.

So, from what I have read about a torque arm it's for better lanching and stopping wheel hop. With this car having a very weak 2.8 engine, could I just remove the arm itself?? I don't plan a doing any burn outs or anything. It would save me some money from having to buy the mounts. Thanks

NO! Leave it in there. That keeps your rear end from rolling around. It is keeping the rear lined up with the trans.
