Default What camaro to buy??

Hey im alex. new to the site . Recently took a drive in my friends 2.8 87 and i really liked it . Now i want a 3rd gen not sure what engine yet.. i was just wondering what a good engine would be as far as it being cheap and easy to work on, reliable, not too many problems and potential for power. I dont know too much about buildin cars but i know some basics . My plans at least for now would be to put in steeper gears, exhaust system, cam, intake, and other smaller things for now. help would be great! thanks

cam swaps arent really a beginner thing.

as far as what motor. the SBC is about as cheap and easy to work on as it gets. Parts are readily available at basically ANY car shop. And as long as they were takin care of, very reliable as well.

^agreed. a SBC 350 is the easierst thing to go for if you're lookin for reliability and part availability

If you buy a Camaro with 2.8, 3.1 V6 or LG4 305 Carb, LO3 305 TBI don't expect to turn them into fire breathing performance monsters. So if you buy one, relize what you are buying and they were NEVER ment to be performance engines. So if you want some performance out of the box, get a LB9 305 TPI or L98 350 TPI from 87-92 model. But you are going to pay much more for these top of the line IROC-Z & Z-28's.
