Ok I have the dash out of my 91 z28 and the whole computer set up. But under the dash there are 2 more electronic boxes. 1 says pass key so i am assuming its for the chip on the key. if i disconnect this will the key still start the carburated engine ill be installing? or since the computer is out this is already eliminated? The other box is about the same size as the pass key but all aluminum, with yellow connectors going to it. what is this box for? heat or ac?

 

The yellow conectors are how you identify air bag equipment

 

so that little box is for the air bag? Since i no longer have the airbag steering wheel, i could disconnect that?

And if your going carb you need a non computer controled distributer and just get rid of the computer

 

If I remember correctly, isn't the passkey system seperate from the computer? I'm pretty sure it is just an independant system, and you'd need to completely rewire the starter relay circuit to ditch it.

 

so if i leave the pass key box hooked up , the ignition will still work?

 

Correct. There is a way to bypass it, and if you want to, nowis the time, but it will make the car more theifable.

 

wont u have to chage the key. dont they have the chip in the key for the security.

 

There would be a dark green wire on the relay that would just need to be grounded.
