Does anyone know what you would get with option W62? The decoder says it equipment GTO performance package I’m curious what that really is. Any help would be appreciated.

 

I have no first hand knowledge of a 3rd gen W62 but everything I have seen says it is a Appearance package. I have not seen anything calling it a GTO package. My understanding is that any non-Z28 could get the the W62 and you would get the ground effects that came on the Z28 on years it was offered. This is not just a 3rd gen thing. The 4th gen also offered an Appearance package on most years unless the RS package was available. The only difference between an Appearance package and a RS was the RS Tag. In a few cases in the camaro history the RS got rims or two tone paint job, maybe some variation on the lights. But it was always appearance equipment.

If anyone knows of a GTO package on any camaro please post it. I have been working on these cars 44 years and I never heard of it but I learn new stuff all the time. Seems like that would be stepping on Pontiac toes. Like Pontiac offering a SS package.

 

I’m curious I don’t think it’s performance related it’s a basic TBI 305 auto with highway gears.
