Exclamation Value of an '82-85 Camaro Z28?

I may have a chance to get a 1982-85 (I haven't got the exact year confirmed yet, but it's a third gen camaro for sure ) Camaro Z28. The thing is that it is in pretty bad shape. There are major rust spots on the body, the interior is pretty bad, it hasn't been garage kept so the original paint is faded and I'm not sure if the engine even works.. How much do you think I could spend on buying it? Also, how much will it cost to restore it?

Old saying....If you have to ask, then you can't afford it. It even cost a good buck to keep a 20+ year old car running, even one in good condition.

3rd gens are a dime a dozen. The only reason I restored mine is because it was my first car. You can easily find a good one for much less than what you'll spend on restoring it.

i wouldnt pay more than $400 for it. sounds like a parts car to me. spend the extra $500 to get one that is running and driving. dont spend more than $2000 for any third gen unless its near showroom condition or has a lot of documented money invested. as for fully restoring one, dont look for anything less than 10k to get it to stock. more if you want to make it go faster. save the hassle and get something in better shape

Not a penny more than 400. It sounds like this car is more of a candidate for a junkyard. If you choose to buy this car..it will take several years and THOUSANDS of dollars to get it even presentable. Avoid it.

Thanks guys, I think I'll just buy one that is in better shape! The only reason I asked how much is because I didn't want to spend more than I could get out of it by reselling it!
