well, I just pulled a bunch of stuff off my 84 and its still running. I pullled the ac and air pump and pulled all the air tubes and blocked the cat air inlet so this is what I encountered.
there are no vac lines to the ac, but there is one under it. I say this cause there was a bad leak there that I would not have found without removing the ac. compressor.
on the front of the carb at the bottom on the driver side is a small vac line. pull that one and plug it at the carb. then follow that line and remove from whatever it connects to. it will go to a splitter thats mounted on the coolant in " CAP " ( top of manafold) its kind of a splitter for the vac and you can leave both open. that will take you to the air cleaner and the air pump and from there you should be able to figure all that out. I just removed the air pump as well and pulled all the tubes to the headers. my car runs MUCH better now and I think its cause there were many vac leaks. I have not done the egr valve yet bcause I dont have a replacement manifold yet, and I have not gotten any check engine lites yet. it took me about 5 hrs to do all this.

my 84 is a 305
