yes a v6 tranny will not bolt up to a v8, you need new everything includding exhaust atleast back to the cat. if youve never done a engine swap then find someone who has, in our cars fuel injected v6 to anything other than another fuel injected v6 is a heck of a task, i started mine in march and just finished it about 2 weeks ago, and ive done a engine swap atleast once a year since i was 11, if it bolts to the engine(literly) you need a new one, even radiator, only part of the drive train you can keep is the driveshaft to the rear axle everything else you need new. and make sure you have very detailed blueprints of the electrical otherwise the ignition becomes a nightmare and label everything very very well with electricals. motor mounts are usualable but you have to move them forward and get larger bolts(the ones that go thro the middle)
have fun, and dont jump into it, its not as easy and anyone things, its easier to find a cheap v8 with the engine and tranny torn out you can get that done in less than a day, but a 6 to 8 plan on atleast a week of constant work till its realy road ready.

it sounds like it would be a good idea to find a donor car for all the extra parts needed. Is there anywhere to buy all the parts needed for the swap?Hes going to buy a new engine I think.Thank you for all info I will print it out and give it to him

you can still use the transmission, but youll need a new bellhousing. Im running the T-5 which is the same 5 speed you have, and mine is on a 350. Like i said, youll need a new bellhousing though. One to fit on a small block chevy.

RE: V6 to V8 Swap
probably get one at a junkyard, if not, just do some lookin around, i havent looked so i wouldnt know exactly where to find one, sorry i cant help ya there. As for the clutch and whatnot, get a new one either way around it. MUCH easier to replace before you put the whole assembly into the car.
