so i may be buying a set of used vortec heads off a 305. They only have about 3000 miles on them so i would they are still plenty fine. i think hes only askin 100 bucks for the set! I have a 350. Would i have to have them angle milled? or would i benifit a little by keeping them how they are and having the slightly smaller combustion chamber? Also, for those of you who know, im lookin to install a 4bbl TBI, and in which case im gona need a new mani, is there a certian mani that i should be looking for? Like "vortec 4bbl manifold" or something? or would just any ol 4bbl manifold work?

you shouldnt have to angle mill the heads. but i think the vortec heads require a different intake anyways. i think they have the intake that have the bolts straight up, not at an angle.

And i have no idea bout the 4bbl tbi.

 

well talkin to the guy who has it right now, hes usin the stock intake on his 305 TBI. So it will work for now, but i was still lookin to go 4bbl sometime.

 

Well your friend is full of BS. One reason is you CANNOT use a stock 305 TBI instake with those heads.

You should check the Heads first to find out what they really are . My opinion.

 

yea thats true, they may not be vortec heads if the stock mani bolts up and all... ill check it out

 

If they are vortec you have to have a vortec intake. not sure on the other though

 

If You use 305 heads on a 350, You'll play hell with the compression ratio, besides that, the 305 vortec are marginal at best, not a real power maker. Get a set of Dart Iron Eagle SS Heads, they're real cheap and work great. I think about $ 180 each. That'll make You go fast and have a brand new set of heads without problems.
