Default Try this one on

I'm considering buying a 1990 RS with a V-6 in it. I would like to take my newly built 383 two piece rear main seal motor with carb setup & stick it in there. The V-6 has 190,000 miles on it so I'm sure its tired. It is an automatic car & I plan on staying that way. I'm sure the engine mounts, trans mount, toque arm mount & radiator are going to need to be replaced.

What problems am I going to run into with the conversion back to carbed?

What has to be done with the computer system to blank out the signals that would give the "check engine soon light" ?

I'd hate to have to sell the newly built engine & start all over again. I also have a 700R4 to go with the package with the correct flex plate & torque converter.

I'm I totally crazy

Please when (if) you decide to reply, don't hold back, put all the info you can think of. The cars body really looks good as well as the interior. Its a power thing that's needed & I have a bit put into the motor I want to install.

Thanks all,
CCar

IF you are going to swap, a carb is the way to go, because trying to wire an EFI motor would be nuts with all of the sensors and crap. This does not sound too unrealistic

Not to shabby of a swap. You're going to want to replace the suspension front and rear. That much power will have that thing all over the road. Going carb is easy cause you can eliminate the computer and you'll only need basic wiring to get her going. Let us know how it goes I want pic's of the engine too! Just be prepared a swap like that is a money pit and eats up a lot of time.

Hey thanks for all the support. I had another 90 but the body wasn't inthe best shape. The body on this one from the photos looks pretty good.

Here is a photo of the engine I'd like to install.
