Default Trunk!

I was taking out plastic part around the trunk lid and there was two things i noticed
1. A retangular Piece with wires going to it
2. on the top part there was a similar piece but just had a prong on it.

Can anyone tell me what these are..
I think its to open the trunk without the keys but there is no button inside the car

Is it a part that touches another on the hatch? It may be the third brake light contacts

The contacts are for the electric motor that raises the trunk latch when it's open. Once that circuit is broken, the motor goes up, and when it's closed, it goes down. There should be four contacts on the bottom part, and just one on the top, right? I know one of the other contacts was for the trunk release solenoid, and the other two I've never seen used on a Camaro, but the same setup was used on other GM vehicles as well, including Cadilacs, so they probably had some BS feature that was used for. Hope that answers the question well enough.

Oh, and the third brake lights are typically connected by a wire coming out of the middle of the headliner, at least on later model third gens, but I suppose there may be one contact in the array for a lower deck mounted light.

Rear wiper?
My 91 does not have that. It has a small rocker type of switch that tells the motor to go up or down.
And the third brake light that was in the spoiler I do not remember ever seeing wires run down from the headliner to it.

Indeed. I couldn't remember if any 3rd gens got a lower deck or spoiler mount brake light, but every one I've owned had a light on the top of the back window with a coiled wire coming from the headliner so it could stay connected while the deck is up. That would explain the use of four contacts. My 86 used a single contact for the motor, and my 91 uses two of them for the motor and the remote release solenoid. That still leaves one other though, any ideas?

It raises and lowers the trunk latch. Have you ever noticed the deck goes down about an inch and a half after it's closed?
