trans swap
alright, I have a 700R4 transmission installed. I would like to change to a manual trans at some point. My car is an 85 Z28, but it was totally stripped down when I acquired it so I put an 88 IROC 5.7 L engine and wiring harness in it. Ihave a Borg Warner 5-speed transmission right now but it has about 60k miles on it. I also have the clutch pedal setup as well, I know I need the hydraulic system for it also. My main question is how would I go about adapting the wiring harness for the park/neutral,backup light switch, secondly would the roller cam be alright being that it was for an engine with an automatic, and not a manual? I have seen TBI, HO, and 305 TPI with the 5 speed, but not any 350 TPI engines, is it possible to splice into the factory harness to make everything work?

RE: trans swap
to be honest, the borg warner t5 is a weak trans for a 350, its not rated for the torque. if you want to use the t5, get it upgraded and rebuilt first, and i think all you need is the speedo output for the manual trans, no electronics neccessary. however, like i said, the t5 is weak, and if you wanna run the car hard, you should think about the tremec tko 600 5 speed. if your on a budget, then stick with the t5, but dont expect alot.

RE: trans swap
Yea they didn't make Camaros with the 350 and 5-speed because the torquein the 5.7 TPI was too much for those 5-speeds to handle. When I swap my engine from 305-350, I'm getting either a T-56 or a ZF6 out of a Corvette.
