Transmissions are much more complicated than engines, even the manual shift ones. Unless you have done this work before or have an expert around to guide you, I suggest going to a transmission shop and get yours rebuilt. Buying a used one you take a chance, as you don't know its condition. Even if it has a warranty you still stuck with the labor if it does not work properly.

dude im not entirely shure on the condition cuz when i bought the car it didnt run... but ill have my brother (an atc grad) look at it and see whats up. but if it doesnt go to someone its going to the junk yard. but if mine is spent, do some serious ebaying, t5 transes come a dime a dozen and are cheap as dirt! WARNING if you are thinking of going bigger power thet5 trans is only good for 300ft lbs of torque!!! this is why im getting a t56

i know. it takes forever to get it in reverse. plus the shift throw is sooo long. i hate it. im lookin at a 383 stroker with 600 hp and a racing trans with a high stall converter for 3500. its got a weiand tunnel ramdual holley 600s, edelbrock heads that are worth over 3000, and like everyhting else is high performance.im highly considering it. he was running 740 with nos injection. if i get it a supercharger is in order. i should have enough saved up in a few weeks.

WOW! that is quite a setup! but with all that poweryou might need tothink abouta 12 bolt rear too... and is yours t-topped or rag top? cuz if it is some sub frame connectors and an 8 point roll cage will give the car its rigitity that it needs.
