im looking to rebuild my 83 z28. im not looking to push much more tha 275-350 hp out of it. I was thinking of going with the 700r4 stage 2 trans. I want it as a street car. Is there any harm in putting in a stronger trans or should i stick with a stage 1 700r4.

 

Unless you think that engine is going to produce over 600 Hp stick with the Stage 1. With that said, why spends that money when the stock 700r4 will handle that Horsepower?? Unless you are a burnout freak...

 

i was a burnout freak when i was younger why i killed my original 700r4. i killed the trans 3k miles shy of 300,000miles. I bought it with 60,000 miles on it in 94. now im looking for a new trans and a newer motor. i want to get ride of the 305 with a 350. even thou it still ruins strong. i haven't started this car since i parked it 10 years ago. i was considering having my trans rebuilt. i was even considering rebuilding the trans myself. would u have a trans with that many miles rebuilt?
