some folks told me on my 91 rs that if i put any power under the hood that the track bars are bad about breaking and coming through the floorboard and taking off a arm or someting does anyone know this to be a problem in these cars

They're talking about the torque arm. The rear of the arm bolts to the rearend, and the front mounts to the tail of the transmission. Added h.p., and liking to beat on the car tends to rip the stock rubber trans mount apart, which then allows the tail of the trans to lift and whack the tunnel. Having that happen isn't good for your u-joints or trans tailshaft, not to mention the dents on the tunnel. A urethane trans mount is the cure since those have an interlock.
