Default tires

ive been looking into buying Bridgestones Potenza G 009 tires for my 89 RS. About mid spring i have to put them on as ive been having to much fun with these tires... we wont go there. lol

have any of you used these tires before? or know of somebody who has? Tirerack.com is giving its good reviews. Ive asked a few tire dealers around here and they seem to like them. But, would it be better to go with 215/60, or 215/65? its got the 15 inch wheel by the way

i had 235/60/15's on a 87 Z28 few years ago and they fit great , give a little more side wide and a touch wider but still fit the OE wheel okay, and they were an optional size for several years so there are no clearance issues.

ok, the first number (215, 235) refers to the tread width? i may look into a set of 235's then, at least for the rear, ive been wanting a lil more meat in the back

the first # .....235 is the width from side wall to side wall........2nd # is the % of the width 60% of 235mm = 141mm side walls. Camaros look good with 235/60 15's on all 4 corners. if you have to go with 215's the 65's will be a little taller on the sides. but if you can go with the 235's.

235 is a measurement in MM from bead to bead , 60 is a % of height to width (thats why a 235/50 is shorter and wider than a 235/60) and they look 100% better with 235/60's than the 215's

the 235 is from center side wall to side wall ,the bead to bead differs from rim to rim. And can change the apearance of the width , a 235 50 only looks wider cuz of the shorter sidewall. tread width is measured in inches on a given rim width. and good luck finding a 235/50 in a15 inch rim as of yet there are none. ..............and I edited the last post cuz I had some extra in the % that may have been confuseing, cuz it got me.

the 50's would be shorter by at least 27.5mm in sidewall height. The 275 is still the un mounted sisewall to sidewall width of the tire/ roughly 11" wide the tread width will differ slightly on the foot of the tread. and brand. a 275 50 should have a rough OD of 25.9 tall and a 275/60 at28" tall but both have a 275mm width , the tread foot may be different . but close. I may be wording this wrong so this is what I'm tryin to say http://www.chromewheelsandtires.com/...lus_sizing.jpg

i run 215/60/15's on the front and 255/60/15's on the rear on stock sized wheels. the car came with 245's all around that were bald, but it didnt have that agressive stance that it gets with larger rear tires. ive had no issues with them, and the rear tire has about half an inch inside of the fender to keep it legal. the only thing i have noticed is tread wear for the rear tires, and i run them at 25 psi for daily driving as well as weekend cruising/racing. with it sitting the way it does now, i can see over the hood great.
