ok so, i found a used 350 for $250, guy claims 400 HP but i seriously doubt it[8D]it has a carb on it, ive had a carbd car before and hated it for DD and like fuel injection, TPI swap from what ive heard is a major PITA, sooooo, can i reuse the TBI setup on my LO3? i knowthat everything including the upper intake manifold will swap over to the 350, but will i need anything else for this swap?

 

If you can transfer the intake over it would be a direct swap using all the existing sensors & ECM. You will need a new chip but the old one may work. It would be worth the effort if the 350 is any good.

 

the only thing about a stock TBI is THEY SUCK for power , and if you make changes you have to have a custom chip burnt. a stock TBI system will only suport about 275hp, the they starve the engine for fuel and air....i had a Vortec 5.7L in a 87 R10 truck with a 454 t-body and it still leaned out and had a hesitation.. the stock TBI was made for tq , not hp

 

You got to look at the center bolts on the carbed intake. Are they at a different angle like the ones in your TBI manifold?

 

carburators OWN ALL. ill never dich my carb for tbi.

 

But you'll ditch it for a TPI, I hope

 

ok how big of a pain is it to switch to TPI? ive heard that its harder to switch from TBI to TPI then to actually swap the 305 for the 350, how would a 4 barrel work on a DD anyways? it would be a DD till next september

not sure what the motor has, the guy selling it never used it, and the guy he baught it from claimed 400 HP he said, but he was honest and said thats a high number to just be put out there, so were unsure
