DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY ADVICE OR ANY KITS I CAN BUY TO SWITCH MY THROTTLE BODY TO A TUNED PORT. BASICALLY IS AN 88 IROC WITH A TBI SETUP AND ALREADY DROPPED A 305 TUNED PORT INTO IT, EXAMPLE ALTERNATOR AND AC IS ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE SO DOES ANYBODY KNOW A WEB PAGE WITH A LIST TO CONVERT THIS OVER.

 

Don't know if a kit is available, but if you really want to do this, besides all the TPI hardware you will need a TPI computer and adapt it to work in your car. Also the fuel system will need to be upgraded to work wit TPI.

 

Yes, this is key. You will also need to reroute the speed sensor. The TBI goes from sensor, to (something, can't remember) to computer. Simply run a wire from where it comes from the sensor to the computer itself. The TPI setup does not have whatever the second piece is.

 

Switching to TPI from TBI offers little to no performance gains. Most say its not even worth doing.

 

Probably not worth it if it is a 305, but well worth it for a 350. We noticed a huge difference when we did our engine swap.

That link will take you to several articles about TPI and TBI. I myself would keep the TBI (the website helped me make up my mind). There are multiple mods there for TBI and they sound like they are very worth while. Hope this helps! -Steve
