tach problem...
Ok my tach never worked so i replaced it with one that works now for some reason when idle it reads 7,000 RPMs is there a way to fix or is there something else wrong any help greatly appreciated!

RS 1990 V6 3.1L i pulled it from a V6 aswell and it reads 7k when idle when gassed goes all the way up and im thinking now thats what it use to do originaly before it completely died when i would start the car is read 7k and the would go south and sit on the needle and never moved again ...thanks for all the help!

They all do that....it seems that way anyway. A misreading tach is pretty common with the 90-92 Camaros. It could be a bad circuit board in the cluster behind the tach, and you just got "lucky" and picked another bad one. Others have speculated that it could be the module in the distributor giving a false reading. Did you get to see the new one work in the other car before you pulled it to know if it worked correctly?
