swapping out 92 5.0 TBI
OK I'm looking for some advice..... I'm not a fan of this TBI crap that is under my hood. Looking to build up a 350 and just need some advice on which way to go, before i start buying stuff. I really like the way a carb looks, sounds, and the adjustability, but I need to pass a visual emissions check. The only other way I know to go, and get the power I want, would be TPI. But so far with the research I've done, it sounds pretty pricey. Switching out wires, getting a new ECM, and having it programed, and also TPI parts can add up quite quickly. I am open to any realistic suggestions. Thank you

you can get the full setup on ebay fairly cheap. Ive gone through 2 of them. Both came with computer, one with the harness ( though it was cut up pretty bad) all for less than 600 bucks. dont forget about craigslist too. You may or may not need new injectors. Those can add up pretty quick. From what im told, TPI setups are good on torque but top out kinda midrange. About 5500 to 6000RPM i think? But unless your building one helluva motor, your barely gonna reach that anyway. Deff a neat looking setup. Do yourself a favor and read up on it as much as you can. And keep askin around on here and other forums for people that have done it.
I've been keeping my eye out for a parts car in my area, haven't found anything yet. I'm not looking to make a serious powerhouse or anything. I don't really have the money to strengthen up my car right now for serious power. With having a t-top car i'm looking to keep it around 350-400 torque max. I am planning to get frame rail connectors and some stiffer suspension parts, but thats pretty much it right now. I think I'm going to end up going to a self pull junkyard to find a 350 TPI that way i can get the emissions crap and everything else so i don't miss anything. Then just do a complete rebuild. Anybody have any other ideas?
The junk yard thing sounds good, I would take everything off the car, wires, computer, all the intake parts and brackets for everything, even alt and power steering incase it's different. Take a camera so you can see how it goes together later
