Swap TPI to Carb

Swap TPI to Carb
I have a standard 2 bbl TPI ontop my motor, and I want to swap it for a 4 bbl carb. I'm planning on getting a Holly 650cfm, but can it be done with my 305? Would it be a good investment, or should I just wait until I do the engine swap (350 ofcourse)?

RE: Swap TPI to Carb
First of all, it's TBI(Throttle Body Injection), not TPI(Tuned Port Injection.) Secondly, what do you hope to accomplish by putting a carb on that motor? If you had a well planned TBI system on there, which you don't, since the stock system is a turd,it'll outperform a carb any day.

If it were me and I were planning a swap in the near future, I would just wait so I would have the money to spend on the motor thats actually going to be staying in the car (the 350).

RE: Swap TPI to Carb
i myself am probably goin to go carb from TBI eventually. I have the t5 in my car. NOTHING need be done with the tranny right? nothing with the ecm, or anything. Is it just a simple replacement manifold, distributor, and obviously the carb? or is there more to it?

350rs
You should be good. No computer controls in your trans. You guys will also have to consider your fuel pump. You should be able to regulate the stock one down to 7psi and if you leave it hooked up to the oil pressure switch it will kick on when the pressure rises. As long as the carb has fuel in the bowl there should be no problems.
