story time
So here i sit, freshly out of the garage. COVERED with coolant, dirt, oil, and grease. Coolant is because i had to take out the temp sending units (yes units i have two, even though one dont work...) and stupid me was RIGHT below them and yea, yall know the rest. But the headers are FINALLY on that damn thing. Had to jack up the engine, but the damn things are on. Im not totally done yet, but after 8 hours, im ready for a break. Found out that bolt closest to the firewall on the passenger side, just isnt ment to come out... EVER! I didnt get it out untill we had jacked up that side of the engine. But it all looks good, and should run fine. I havent started it up yet since i still have to put on the plug wires, AIR connections, hook the battery back up, and some other little stuff to get it running again... BTW, anybody happen to know what plug on the distributor cap is for that cylinder? Does it go in order clockwise? I ment to label the plugs as i took them off, but yup, that didnt happen. Anywho, i will update tomorrow for the conclusion of this story.
Tell us the story again uncle remous.
If you have the HEI with the internal coil , Looking from the front of the motor, The elctrical on the right hand side, Going clockwise from there after the first screw is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
But you most likely have the small HEI with external coil and I can not rember #1. I think it is the same one after the first screw but dont quote me on that.
I installed Edelbrock T.E.S. on my 84......But I had the motor out and after looking at them when it was in I was glad it was out when I did it.

conclusion to story above...
So there i was, oil, smeared all over my arms and face (sadly enough). A wrench in one hand, and a y pipe in the other. I had to wrestle that thing into place and then grow a 3rd and 4th arm real quick just to put a bolt in the flange enough to keep it there. But after 20 min of that, i won that battle. So on to step 1,892. I did a dry fit with the cat and it fit fine. So i ran up to Auto Zone to get some temp clamps to keep everything on there. I returned home with my bag-o-goodies and went back to work. I got the cat on, rigged the pipes to go down from a 3" to a 2 and a quarter. Thats a sad sight to see right there, but it will work for now. Upon finishing this job, i noticed, i need another clamp. So i return to auto zone with a pissed look on my face (i just wanted this to be over with). The rather attractive woman behind the counter recognized me as i was just there 45 min ago. A Bline to the parts i needed and outta there. Like a nascar pit stop, no longer than a min spent. I got home and finished up the project. Mission complete. Sounds GREAT even with the stock exhaust on it. Im going this saturday to put the new 3" exhaust on. Any suggestions on the muffler? I was thinking Flowmaster 40 series. But im open for suggestions, i want it semi loud, and that nice deep V8 Rumble.

Good story. I hope it has a happy ending.
I used the flowmaster on mine. It was loud but not in a pesty sort of way. A good noise and one you could hear inside the car, not just from outside behind it.
