Default Steering Column problem

So i recently got back to work on my camaro and fixing what work the previous owner (My parents) did to it.

So my problem is that the turn signal wont stick and its just loose, meaning something inside the column is missing to make it stick and im wondering what it is.

any help would be awesome

Hey, we have related problems. i started the 'steering column wobble' thread and i will see the turn signal modual and such when i figure out how to get in there.
so far, i can pull the steering wheel with a tool, and then a plastic cover is over the next mechanism. the manual shows to use a screwdriver to remove it, but i'm afraid to break it. i need another tool next anyway, that i dont have yet. so , back together.

i did see the hold down screw for the turn signal. a tough spot, maybe an -L shape screwdriver will do it. the plastic parts for the turn signal module are fragile, so i know to handle with care.

my turn signal was broke so I got one from the yard and my brother put in while I installed other parts, and pulling the steering wheel didnt happen. he just popped it out and popped new one in. I will ask him tomorrow what he did since I didnt see him do it. this is an 84.

yea i got that fixed, the problem now is just that the circular part with the little beads/***** broke and i have to replace it. Im gonna visit a local junkyard to get the turn signal part and that one this weekend if i cant find it online.

Other than that im wondering if that will fix the wobblyness in the column, meaning the thing wobbles all over the place, the thing being this

if anyone has fixed this before and has any advice before i get to working on it this weekend, it will help alot
